J. PATRICK WHEELER'S tax practice involves facets of federal income, excise, gift and estate taxation. State and local tax matters are increasing in significance as the revenue demands of state and local governments increase.

The firm also handles tax controversies and other litigation with the Internal Revenue Service. These matters usually involve seeking a proper resolution through settlement negotiations and appeal procedures within the Internal Revenue Service. However, if necessary, we are prepared to seek resolution through the appropriate court, whether a federal district court, the Tax Court or the Claims Court. In addition, we will litigate state and local tax issues from the administrative hearing level to the supreme courts of the various states.

A critical function of a tax practice is to remain current and up-to-date on tax legislation, not just after it becomes law but before its passage, as it evolves throuią Congress and its committees, and thereafter as it is developed and interpreted by regulations, rulings and case law.

We have the back-up facilities of two well known tax attorneys in addition to our own expertise.
